Violinist Jessica Oddie’s love of music has allowed her to live and perform all over the world. After studying at Juilliard and Yale in the USA, she moved to Germany, where her quartet worked intensively with Gerhard Schulz of the Alban Berg Quartet. She has recently returned to Australia after being awarded a contract as the Assistant Concertmaster of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in 2020.

Following an acclaimed performance of Sibelius’ Violin Concerto with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Jessica recorded two albums of chamber music for the Naxos and Tactus recording labels, including the premiere recording of Italian composer Gino Gorini’s chamber works. She has performed solo and chamber music recitals at Teatro La Fenice (Venice), Le Poisson Rouge (New York), Lincoln Center (New York), Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, the Sydney Opera House, and the Melbourne Recital Centre.

In Europe, Jessica’s performances have been described as “brilliantly convincing” (Schwäbische Zeitung), while Polish music magazine Muzyka21 has called her playing “revelatory” for her “energy, commitment, and artistry.”

Jessica has performed in principal roles for Victorian Opera (Melbourne), Handel in the Theatre (Canberra), at the Canberra International Music Festival, and as a featured artist at the Peninsula Summer Music Festival. She works regularly with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, and the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra. Later this year, she will be playing a concerto at the Melbourne Recital Centre and performing as concertmaster for Victorian Opera’s production of Lorelei.
